I always have “favorite” times during my weddings – and every wedding is different. Sometimes, I fall in love with the portraits – and other times with the ceremony…
but at Travis and Alicia’s wedding I absolutely fell in love with their reception. Every single moment of it – from the design to the cake cutting, toasts, and their amazing dancing guests.
I love that Alicia and Travis took a bit of a vintage-glam approach to their day. Her bridesmaids wore deep eggplant purple and they had accents of ivory and pink to compliment the vintage pieces that Travis’s mother collected for the decor.
From Alicia: “We opted to nix table numbers and include famous literary/fictional couples ranging from characters such as Gatsby and Daisy, Elizabeth and Mr.
Darcy, all the way to Clark Kent and Lois Lane, with our table of course being ourselves- the idea that we are now one of the many great love stories. Our guestbook might be one of my favorite pieces, as each guest will write a note on a white piece of fabric which will then be incorporated into a quilt that the groom’s mother is making.”
And although the weather threw us a few curve balls, I was so happy that they let me parade them around outside for a bit on the drizzly alleys of St. Augustine for their portraits. Their ceremony, which was moved inside the White Room on the second level, was elegant and warm and they were married to the sound of rain falling outside. It was beautifully imperfect.
Safe travels to Travis, who leaves for Japan tomorrow morning for the next few months, and I can’t wait for all the random cat-posts from Alicia. She is my crazy-cat-lady-twin and I’ve loved sharing this journey with them!
