Newagen Seaside Inn Wedding in Maine

I figured that I should make my inaugural trip to Maine an amazing experience full of lobster rolls galore! Alison and Jon had a nautical, preppy Maine wedding at the Newagen Seaside Inn in Southport! One of my photographer friends, Shannon Grant, met me from Boston to second shoot and we shared an awesome trip sightseeing and eating!
Since this was a destination they shared so deeply in their relationship (they traveled to Maine about once a year for vacation ever since they met – and it’s where Jon proposed!), it was the perfect idea to bring everyone north for their Maine wedding in September! Lobster and nautical details touched everything from the color palette, to the venue and even the food!
Their wedding was truly a family affair – Alison’s wedding band was an antique family heirloom and the lace around her bouquet is from her grandmother’s wedding dress. Her sister even made the bridesmaid dresses – which are a super cute, preppy combination ofย navy blue skirts and pink sweaters!
Even though we had a rainy forecast for the ceremony, they opted to keep it outside under the portico at the front of the hotel. So we ran out back to the water for a few quick bridal party shots before the rain picked up again. The best part of the photos (for me) was getting to take them out during the reception for the most incredible pink and purple sunset I’ve ever seen. After we finished shooting, we just hung out for a few minutes enjoying the quiet crash of the water on the rocks.
The party didn’t end at the reception though. One of the highlights of the Newagen Seaside Inn is their recreation room – a piney play room with a vintage bowling alley, pool table and bar. The entire wedding party hung out long in to the night to cap off Alison and Jon’s wedding day!
