Style Me Pretty: Pink and Gray Modern Romance

So I’m a little behind on the times… but I shot this amazing styled design for Lauren Grove of Every Last Detail blog, and then we were featured on Style Me Pretty! There’s been so many blogs about this shoot, I almost feel like it’s overkill for me to post it, too! But I loved the design, the colors and the style… so I had to!

But I wanted to share some of Lauren’s comments about the shoot, and why it was so special!

“I say that this shoot was a “Twitterfied Photo Shoot” because many of the details were provided by vendors who responded to a tweet of mine, asking if any vendors had something they would like to contribute. It all started with Kristen Weaver saying that she would shoot it, and the shoot was on! Then the vendors came rolling in. Some totally gorgeous hair pieces were provided by Bethany Lorelle, and I’m now hooked. Monet sent the most perfect jewelry- I was in accessory heaven. The Etsy store LindenLovebirds sent the most perfect pink and gray shoe clips that went perfectly with the gray shoes our model wore. Southern Fete sent paper products designed to match the style and color scheme of the shoot. Marni of Creative Custom Cardboxes whipped up a pink and gray cardbox, and our Twitterfied Photo Shoot was complete! Oh and of course the details that I created for the shoot too!”

Why July is the hottest month ever!
07.23.2010Press

I had a super exciting month in July (even though it isn’t over yet!). First of all, for any of you non-Floridians out there… it’s HOT here. Temps are soaring in to the 100’s and outdoor shoots are torture. But besides our crazy hot summer, I had a hot month and wanted to share it with you!

First of all, I welcomed 4 new brides to my growing family of KWP clients! I’m so excited about their upcoming weddings – they’re all fabulous and unique and oh-so stylish! And some of the amazing engagement sessions we have planned? Yeah… pretty awesome!

I also had my first wedding published in the new premier issue of Orlando Wedding! I wanted to thank my fabulously creative couple, Susan and Matt Dunn, for having such an amazing DIY wedding and letting me be a part of it!

So what could possibly top that? How about a feature on Style Me Pretty! I was so excited to hear that the amazing shoot I worked on with Lauren, writer of the fabulous Every Last Detail blog, was being featured on Style Me Pretty! I had another shoot the morning it was featured, and came back to my Facebook Fan page and Twitter abuzz with posts, comments and tags about the shoot! I loved working with Lauren and the whole team at MMD Events, along with an array of vendors that Lauren found through Twitter! I’ll definitely have a full blog post coming up with all the amazing details from the shoot, but wanted to post a link to the SMP blog so you can comment on their page first! Lots of love to all the amazing vendors, including Bethany Lorelle (who just sent me some gorgeous pieces for my Jacksonville Bridal shoot), Southern Fete and CardboxDiva! Our model was one of my girls, Melissa Ziegler from Orlando. I always love sharing the camera with her!

And in case you hadn’t heard… SMP is pretty much the mecca of bridal blogs. So this is a HUGE honor, and I’m SO excited to be a part of such an amazing and inspiring team!

Today I was really excited to be featured on another photographer’s blog, Tonhya Kae from Seattle! I was really excited when she contacted me about featuring me on her blog – and I think it’s so great that she gets to know her inspirations! I think we should all take a cue from that :) Her interview questions were so fun to answer (I’ll never turn down a good interview!) and I loved being able to share some of my favorite images to date with her readers! Take a quick peek over on her blog and see how I answered her tough questions! ;) – Dude, and seriously, I love her blog header pic! So cute!

I’ve also been waiting to post this cool post about SnapKnot.com! I got an email from Elizabeth, writer of the bridal blog Shiny Orb, who told me that in a recent interview with SnapKnot co-founder Reid Warner, he shared my portfolio with them as one of his favorites! I was really delighted to hear about it, and wanted to share their great blog with everyone!

press photography

So I’ll try to keep everyone posted on things a little more frequently :) Still coming up, I’m waiting to hear back from my Southern Weddings magazine cover shoot and the new issue of Dujour Magazine is coming out any day now, where I not only have a cover, but 2 editorials! I can’t wait to share everything and I’ve got a few other fun things up my sleeve, too – like an amazing bridal shoot in Jacksonville with some of my favorite people! Just to make sure I end with a teaser… here you go!

Thanks to April Dorsey of The D-Tales, Heather Schnell (makeup), Nicole Beth Miller (hair), Tyler Hill (model), Heather Blackwell (assistant), Lee Forest (floral), Bethany Lorelle (custom hair pieces) and Amanda from Something Blue Bridal Salon for the amazing gowns! This teaser is Tyler in a stunning Lazaro gown!

Also a huge thanks to Jennifer Frances, the best retoucher ever, for making Tyler glow like a porcelain doll! She has the magic touch :)

press photography

And I also can’t wait to post this amazing shoot with the uber talented Maria! Thanks to Heather Schnell for doing the makeup and helping on hair, and a HUGE thanks to designer Eduardo de las Casas and Paul for loaning us some EPIC gowns for the shoot (they aren’t featured in these teasers… it’s a huge secret what those shots look like… they’re pretty killer!)

Here’s 2 unedited favorites! These are straight off the camera in Lightroom, with a slight desaturation applied.

  • Shannon Grant: This post should be titled, “Why Kristen Weaver is the hottest photographer in July”. Just sayin’ :)
Best Week Ever
05.14.2010Life Press

So why is this the “Best Week Ever”?

Well, first of all – our Orlando Style editorial hit newsstands and I got to celebrate at dinner Tuesday night with some of my favorite people! I couldn’t have gotten through that shoot without the creativity and energy of April Dorsey, Lee Forrest, Molly Brown and Melanie Pace, and it was so much fun to just hang out, eat and relax! Seeing your efforts pay off in a beautiful print editorial is one of the most rewarding experiences, and I’m so happy to have shared that with them.

Images for a Cure 2010 is rocking hard, and I have an amazing group of dedicated photographers in Central Florida busting their behinds to make this the best it possibly can be! We’re working on our new branding and starting to get things lined up for an official June 1st Registration drive!

I was also asked to be a guest photographer at a Jacksonville shoot club run by makeup artist, Faythe Mesic, on June 1st. I’m really looking forward to meeting up with all the talented photographers in North Florida. They get together and shoot some fun fashion work every month – a nice break from my crazy wedding season. I’ll be speaking a little on Images for a Cure, and then just getting to help everyone out individually with their shoot! I can’t wait to see everyone there! (I believe it’s open to everyone – just contact Faythe on her website, or Facebook Page to get the details).

Moving right along, I finally started working on my office remodel project! I spend nearly 14 hours a day in my office (often more, rarely less) and have been dying to repaint, re-decorate and re-organize. We just built the house in July, but it’s already seen it’s 3 re-design, poor thing. But I’m fairly set on it this time (let’s hope!). There’s a LOT more to do, but I got most of the paint done and hung my photo-montage on the back wall! We still have to finish the curtains, paint the wall behind my desk (need help moving my desk first!), hang the crown molding and shelves, and then do the closet. The closet will probably take the longest…. but I can’t wait until that’s finished!

life photography

And to top off and already stellar week – I was featured on 2 blogs! Yesterday, Weddings Unveiled posted our “Greenhouse Effect” editorial on their blog, Completely Unveiled; and today, my studio interview with Collages.net went up! So if you ever wanted to know how I got my start in photography, what my biggest fear is, who I’d love to meet and what photographer I most admire – go check it out!

Rounding out my weekend, I get to shoot Christine and Micah’s amazing outdoor wedding tomorrow. I can’t wait for this one – it sounds heavenly :) Outdoors, backyard and on a lake. Perfection :) Hope everyone’s getting ready for an amazing weekend!

Dujour is the sweetest!
04.14.2010Press

Miami. Remember that trip?

I was down there shooting some editorials for the amazingly sweet and silky Dujour Magazine! A gorgeous fashion magazine with the slogan “Fashion with Sprinkles on Top!” You can’t go wrong with that, right?!

Anyways – they’re having their annual Cover Contest to have their readers vote on the next gorgeous cover of Dujour! And guess what else? 2 of my shots of the incredible Courtney are up for contention!

So you, my loyal blog readers, need to help me by voting and spreading the word for others to vote!

press photography

I mean, could you not DIE at how amazing Courtney looks? She’s only 12 and 5′10″ – and if you ask me – this girl MUST be on their cover!

And I wanted to mention that this shot is unedited (straight off the camera). Since the whole shoot is part of an editorial, we haven’t released the stunning edits yet :) So I can promise you that if one of my shots of Courtney wins, it will be fantastically gorg with an extra touch of wow.

So go vote for me (pretty please, with pretty pink sprinkles on top!)

Vote for Cover Option #4 or #5 here: http://dujourmag.com/blog/dujour-magazine-cover-contest-the-____-issue/

  • Matt "Proud Dad": Kristen, I wanted to let you know how grateful Dawn and I are for your work with Courtney. You captured her true essence and who she is. Nothing set in stone but per our count she is DOMINATING the vote count for the cover. Thanks again.
  • Aaron Greenwood [female]: I voted! I loved the shots.
  • Megan: Congrats Kristen! I voted for #5! Girl you never fail to impress me! Keep up the always fabulous work!!!
  • Ashley King: Congratulations! This is awesome Kristen!
Blogs Rock!
04.13.2010Press

Yesterday I was featured on one of my favorite Bridal Blogs, Every Last Detail! I had the chance to meet the uber fantastic author, Lauren Grove, through an array of tweets and a tasty lunch over Olive Garden breadsticks during a recent visit to Tampa.

Every Last Detail is slowly gaining recognition in the wedding industry thanks to Lauren’s own personal wedding experience, and her amazing attention to all things fabulous!

press photography

Ooooh! And what’s that cutey little orange ad on the left? Oh yeah! That’s me :) Making her blog the third online advertising I’ve done (only behind WeddingChicks and OneWed)! She’s in good company!

Then, while digging through my Google Analytics, I found another blog featuring Christine and Micah’s session! It was a nice surprise, but it would be totally awesome if I knew there was another blog using my session (just sayin’). Where was my stalker on this one?! :) (Love ya, Kristy!)

So anyways, thanks for the feature on The Disney Wedding Blog!

press photography

Then – uber exciting because Collages.net – whose team is seriously second to none – featured my recent portrait sessions with fellow Orlando photographers Amanda McMahon and Tabitha McCausland (also the Hot Pink Brides author) to talk about why it’s important to network with other photographers in the industry.

I LOVE using Collages for all of my online proofing, and I’m ordering a super secret surprise for some amazing people through them, too! They’re also HUGE sponsors of my Photofusion contest – giving away an entire year of online proofing PLUS a $100 print credit! They’re so good to me :)

They did a great job with the interview – so go check it out to hear what I have to say about networking!

press photography

It’s been a great week to spread the love – so make sure that when you visit blogs, you let them know that you stopped by! It helps them to know when content is relevant and liked by their readers so that they can produce the best blogs possible! And make sure you let them know that you want to see more from me! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Abbey Saloiye: Thanks for doing this for us! I love when photographers work together. It makes the entire industry stronger.
